US Recipe Lead
We’re looking for a US Recipe Lead to help to build and own Mob’s American food content strategy, shaping what we cook, who we cook with, and how we grow our catalogue.
About Mob
Mob is on a mission to create a world of home cooks, because cooking changes lives.
It is the best way to eat throughout the week. It improves your health. It lifts your mood. It saves you money.
We will achieve this by building the ultimate app for home cooking. Making weekly cooking fun, easy and delicious. It will take the friction away from home cooking, so anyone can become an accomplished home cook.
It took us 24 months to reach 100k subscribers - and just seven months to double that to 200k. Our next goal: scale to over 1 million users by the end of 2027.
Behind it all is a creative, data-driven team that collaborates to build experiences that ladder up to our mission. As a fast-paced startup, our core value is simple: make it happen, succeed together.
What You'll Be Doing
We’re looking for a US Food Editor to help to build and own Mob’s American food content strategy, shaping what we cook, who we cook with, and how we grow a catalogue that genuinely resonates with American home cooks.
Key Responsibilities
Catalogue Strategy & Audit
Conduct a thorough audit of our existing recipe catalogue through the lens of American home cooking, identifying gaps, cultural misfires, and opportunities.
Use subscriber research, interview findings, and your own deep knowledge of American cooking culture to map where we need to build content and in what order.
Advise on which existing content is worth surfacing to US audiences versus what needs supplementing or replacing with net-new American recipes.
Work with our product content lead to define and prioritise a US content roadmap, aligned with growth targets and audience insight.
Recipe Commissioning & Oversight
Identify, brief, and manage American recipe talent: chefs, food writers, and creators whose work will resonate with Mob’s audience.
Write clear, high-quality recipe briefs that translate Mob’s voice, standards, and platform needs to US contributors.
Oversee recipe development and testing, ensuring every recipe that ships is genuinely excellent and platform-ready.
Build and manage a pipeline of contributors who bring diverse regional American perspectives and cooking styles.
Cultural Authority & Collaboration
Act as Mob’s internal expert on American cooking culture, supermarket norms, ingredient availability, and culinary trends.
Represent the American audience perspective in cross-functional discussions about product, content, and strategy.
What You’ll Bring
You’re a senior food editorial leader with deep roots in American cooking culture and a track record of building content that audiences genuinely love. You combine strong creative instincts with the strategic mind to prioritise ruthlessly and the operational discipline to execute at pace.
What We're Looking For
Our Must-haves
Deep, lived knowledge of American home cooking culture, supermarket realities, weeknight cooking habits.
Significant experience in food editorial or recipe development at a high-quality food brand, publisher, or media company.
Proven ability to commission and manage external recipe talent to a high editorial bar.
Strong strategic instincts: you can translate catalogue gaps and growth targets into a clear, actionable plan.
It’s a Bonus If You Have
Senior editorial experience at a respected US food brand - NYT Cooking, Bon Appétit, Serious Eats, America’s Test Kitchen, or equivalent.
Experience building or scaling a recipe catalogue with measurable growth outcomes.
Comfortable using data to inform editorial decisions and measure content performance.
You'll thrive in this role if...
Are energised by ambitious targets and excited to build something from scratch, not just maintain what’s there.
Have a product-led mindset, always prioritising the user experience in line with the mission.
Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, driven by data and consumer insight.
Are collaborative and low-ego - you bring people with you, not around them.
Don’t wait to be told what to do; ask questions, find answers and make things happen.
